I am a middle child. And most of what accompanies it.

Today, I was out and the person I was talking to said, "Yeah, he's a typical middle child. Has it all and wants more..." Whoa there. I will admit to most middle-child symptoms. But this? Hmm... I don't know what to think of it. Or I just don't want to admit to that. Or I'm scared that it's true. There I stood, in the middle of the fabric store, contemplating buying what I did not need, but simply wanted. Shoot. You got me.

If you were packing...

So, hypothetically, if you were packing two suitcases (for $15 each) and a carry on (free at time of posting) for the next six months of your life, what would you pack and how many of each? Let's say, for example, that you're going to be in summer for the first month, then heading straight to winter, then experiencing spring into summer... How would you begin packing? What would you bring? And what would you bring to remind you of home?

I need a lot of help. I mean, hypothetically, someone could use a lot of help.

Elephants

At school, the kids are completely fascinated with my booboo. Some kids were just noticing it on Wednesday and Thursday, so the inquiries lasted all week long (today I have off because we have a hula show). One girl came up to me and asked me what happened to my leg. I said I got hurt. She asked me how I did it. I asked her what she thought happened. She asked, "Did you trip over an elephant?" Yup. Watch out for elephants. You might trip over them and skin your knee.

We have outdoor playtime on our playground at school every day if possible. The kids play on the slide, in the tree house, in the sandbox, and in the little pea-sized rocks. One of the older girls really likes to play with my hair, which I allow some days. She gave me a few side ponytails, turned too look at her creation from the front, and exclaimed, "Miss Julie, you look like an elephant!" Great. Just what a girl wants to hear.
