One moving idea

One of my better ideas to come out of moving every other month (ha! just kidding! that's exaggerating...) is the idea of putting all of the screws for our easily "broken down" furniture into a ziplock bag, and taping it to the underside of the main piece (usually the table top). I also label the bag in case of separation. I take pictures of the order of washers and nuts and such.

Just thought you'd like to know.

I'm surprised the glass didn't explode.

We've found some Australian beer here. It took me a while to find CO's favorite beer (Coopers) so in the mean time, he was drinking Boag's. Boag's is from the north part (Launceston) of Tasmania. CO, when drinking it, poured it into a Cascade glass. Cascade is from south Tasmania (Hobart). We picked up the glass when at the Cascade brewery.

I'm just surprised he would do that. And that the glass would let such an inferior beer even come within a meter of it...

Also, I was thinking about having tomato soup for lunch at work. But then there's no grilled cheese, so there goes half of the fun. But then I found these - Toastabags! Do you think they'd work? A bag that makes grilled cheese in a toaster? It's almost too good to imagine. But think of the possibilities if it did work - peanut butter, marshmallows, chocolate, banana! mmmm!

It's the little things...

My desk at work is Steelcase. That makes me happy. It's like a piece of home right here. Love it.

No I'm not living under a rock...

Though it feels like it sometimes! Life just seems to go so much faster when you go from not working to 40 hours per week!

But, I had to take a break from the daily grind to tell you about Make and Take's fabulous giveaway! I've been reading Marie's blog for a while now and it's great! She has tons of good ideas of family projects (or good for doing at preschool or with babysitting kids... or with your husband - lol). Anyway, check out her blog - Make and Take as it turns 2! The secret's out of the box: Pandora!

I've heard of Pandora for a while now. I used to listen at my work back when I was at George Washington University... ah, the memories. Now that I have a desk to sit at regularly again, I have made Pandora part of my daily life!

What is Pandora? Well, it's a free radio station that you create. So what you do is sign up (for free) and put in your favorite artist or song. I put in Jack Johnson. All day long they play me Jack Johnson-esque songs. I listen to Ben Harper, John Mayer, and several chill artists, including Jack Johnson. It's great. I also created a "Michael Buble" station and I listened to that all day today. Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Harry Connick, Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones - it was fabulous just to listen to things that fit my mood. And no commercials! Yay!

I love it. Pandora.com friends! You can too! I have yet to figure out how to get a good Hawaiian music station, but it's definitely worth it :)

Book Review: Mother Warriors

Who knew? Jenny McCarthy is more than a pretty face - she writes books too. Apparently this is her 5th - FIFTH!!!! book. I can't say that I was particularly moved by her writing style or flowery language (unless the f-bomb and other 4-letter words count). But, overall, it was a good book. One that will make me think twice about giving my kids vaccines right away without checking up on some details. She gets on the AMA pretty harshly, but I think they can take it. I liked how she talked about various families and their experiences with autism, and she really empathized with each person's story.

What was really interesting was reading it in the lunchroom at my place of employment. Where everyone there is a Doctor in Pediatrics somehow. I felt like I was reading The Communist Manifesto in front of McCarthy.

All in all, I think the book was informative (though not scientific way - more as peoples' experiences) and thought-provoking. Just don't expect it to win a Pulitzer.

He just got the first Surfer Magazine delivered to the house - the last one was over six months ago. I'll expect to see him again in a few hours.

And that, my friends, made news today. Having a real job sucks time out of you!

Poster-child for Fat Camp

Let's just take some inventory of what I've eaten today:

- Bowl of Raisin Bran
- Samples of cheese dip with cracker (x2) at grocery store
- Chili cheese dip (just cream cheese, canned chili, and cheddar cheese)
- Fritos
- Boneless, skinless, chicken "wings" in hot sauce, dipped in BLEU CHEESE DRESSING
- Carrots and celery dipped in bleu cheese dressing
and then to top it off:
- Phish Food flavor Ben & Jerry's ice cream

Tomorrow's a new day. Let's hope my body doesn't revolt before then.
