Standin' on a corner in Williams, Arizona...

Ok, so it's technically Winslow, Arizona in the song, but we are here in the cute town of Williams, Arizona, which is absolutely adorable. We got into town this evening and had dinner at the Pine Corner - good homecookin' and fresh homemade pies. It was just a cute atmosphere, and across the street a band was playing on the patio of the mexican restaurant and people were sitting on benches on all sides of the street listening to them. It was really refreshing after the man-made Vegas.

It is stinking hot here. I think Vegas was 113 degrees today. That's really hot. The heat, even last night, emanated from the cement and from the buildings. All in all, Vegas wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... but then again, we were only on "the strip" for 5 or so hours, and we came out ahead.

I think the funniest part was that I "found my game" in Vegas. Do you know what it is? War. Yup. You versus the dealer, one card at a time. No skill involved. Yeah, I made money off of them with my madskillz.

We saw the Hoover Dam today. It was hot and big.

Here are some pictures from the past few days:

On the drive to Las Vegas from Los Angeles. How do you pronounce this road's name?

Me by Caesar's Palace - rocking it in DH's favorite Sig Zane dress :)

DH and I in front of Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio

The fountains at the Bellagio - loved them!

Lake Mead, Nevada - it had a GREAT visitors center! We learned a lot!

DH at the Hoover Dam

Where'd DH go? (Just kidding!) Anyway, that's a big dam.

Looking back to Lake Mead from the top of the dam. See the high water level mark? They didn't just paint it white! It's crazy how much the level of the water can change.

Arizona Mountains. We saw a lot of this type of scenery the past few days.

I posted pictures from LA today - check out the post for July 13 :)

Last few days on the Big Island

We've had an exciting last week on the Big Island - DH's family arrived on Monday and the last of them left today. The movers come tomorrow to pick up our stuff, and we leave bright and early on Thursday morning. Here are a few highlights...

The entire family at the Waipio Valley Overlook

Chad, Ashley, DH and Sean hiking out to the Green Sand Beach

DH holding some green sand

Green Sand Beach - we were there by ourselves and had tons of fun!!

We bodysurfed in the waves - DH and Sean are really good. Chad, DH, and Sean proved their manliness by running down the steep sand hill - Chad is the king of the hill though.

Ashley, Sean, and DH by Onomea Bay (one of the best places to find sea glass)

Sean, Ashley, DH and I drove up to Mauna Kea to watch the sunset. We were also treated to see silversword - even silversword in bloom! It was beautiful :)

I was really excited to finally see it in bloom - I had seen silversword on Haleakala when I visited Maui with my parents, but the flowers are gorgeous!! Now when I wear my Sig Zane Kupapalani pareu it's extra-special!

Beautiful bloom of the silversword

Bottom of the silversword plant - can you tell why they called it a silversword?

Silversword in bloom with Mauna Loa rising above the clouds

Venus? Some planet glowing while the sun fades into the distance as viewed from Mauna Kea
